With Mr. Karate having hit the streets of South Town in May, one would logically expect the SNK PR team to start cueing the game’s earworm of a theme to whatever the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves’ last character of the second season, Kenshiro’s Hidden Gear.
Alas it seems we have been swerved and the Osaka, Japan based developer/publisher released a short clip on YouTube with the title “Boxing Glove” emoji. The clip featured a figure with dreadlocks silhouetted in the shadows. We also see this mysterious figure has avian themed tattoos as he also sees they are sporting blue gloves and white pants. They walk into the light and we see a ring with Tizoc awaiting him.
This clip is animated by Masami Obari and his team (SNK, just give him a budget to do a full 12 episode series of Fatal Fury animation), but given the context of what was shown. The dreadlocks, the blue gloves, the white pants…one can safely guess SNK is teasing the return of Rick Strowd, the Native American Boxer who debuted in Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers. We know the game’s developers have stated that they would like to bring back as many characters from the series’ history as possible, so fast tracking a 3rd season will see at least 6 characters for the back half of 2026. However…can we at least get some details on Kenshiro before we start talking about Season 3?
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is available now on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
