Resident Evil Veronica resurrects a Dreamcast survival horror classic for modern platforms

One of the bigger Summer Game Fest 2026 surprises from Capcom was the announcement of Resident Evil Veronica, which is a modern remake of the Claire Redfield-focused Resident Evil spinoff, Resident Evil Code: Veronica, that was first released for the Dreamcast back in 2000.

Resident Evil Veronica is headed to consoles and the PC in 2027 and is being built in Capcom’s very flexible, modern RE Engine with all the expected bells and whistles.

Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the beloved classic Resident Evil Code: Veronica, releases in 2027! The next chapter in the iconic Resident Evil survival horror series features the return of fan-favorite heroine Claire Redfield and will release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam.

Resident Evil Veronica will draw players into a desperate escape filled with horror and madness through the isolated, zombie-filled Rockfort Island. Developed on the RE Engine, the game will introduce modernized gameplay with a chilling level of realism designed to push survival horror to new heights.
