Season 2’s new character is Angstrom Levy, a brilliant scientist with the ability to traverse the multiverse. However due to an accident caused by Invincible, he was maimed and now spends his days trying to get back at the man who caused his deformity. Levy utilizes portals and drone orbs (which originally was used for surveillance, but I guess it’s a dual use device now), with the former being able to not only nullify projectiles, and even intercept his opponents. Even if you don’t purchase him, you will be able to try him in the game’s practice mode as well as the brand new mode for season 2.
Challenges mode is the game’s take on character trials where you run through a series of combo challenges which run from basic to something only experts can accomplish. What distinguishes Invincible VS’ iteration is you can earn cosmetics and profile flair so you can show your opponents you aren’t one to be messed with.
Back to Levy for a second, he was actually the best character to use as a setup for the game’s Season 3. For those who are familiar with the Invincible comic and know about MARVEL Team-Up #14 (Which ironically is published by IMAGE Comics), I’ve made jokes that the game NEEDs the feature the character that appears in that issue as part of the game’s roster. When the animated series covered this team up which is totally canonical, they tweaked it so we met a legally distinct, affable community Agent Spider (even featuring the voice of Josh Keaten…who may have given voice to that other company’s web crawler). If this closes out the game’s year 1 content then they went out with a bang, *Chef’s Kiss*
Invincible VS is available now on PC and consoles. The game’s season 2 content launched on October 13th.
