WARDOGS passes two million sales in five days

BULKHEAD and Team17 have just announced that the unexpected phenomenon in the FPS space has officially passed two million sales. Exceeding all expectations, the team behind WARDOGS have found an audience with many gamers in all respects. Disenfranchised 30+ gamers looking for something to scratch that old Battlefield itch, Planetside 2 players missing a new experience, ARMA players enjoying the refinement of a classic game mode, casual players enjoying support gameplay, hardcore shooters looking to push objectives. WARDOGS has struck gold with a balanced combination that hits all the notes for every kind of person even passingly interested in the idea of an FPS game. If you’re not up to speed on what WARDOGS is, make sure you check out our impressions of the beta!

Evident on launch day, as a flurry of Steam players launched WARDOGS and ground the server to a halt, WARDOGS is inching toward becoming one of the next big FPS phenomena. Launch day had them hitting a peak of 350,000 concurrent players, blowing past the already absurd 250,000 players that were on for the FREE beta the prior weekend. As word has spread and more and more players decide to grab WARDOGS, things have only increased. Sunday, three days post-release, WARDOGS hit its new peak of 428,666 players. This has come as a major surprise for BULKHEAD, who originally had a goal of retaining at least 5,000 players or so for an active community. A story we’ve seen a few times this decade, with fellow ARMA-mod-adapter PUBG having essentially done the same, as well as other games like Helldivers 2. We’re in a time where a small company can release a game that blows even AAA studios out of the water, and it’s glorious to be here for.

Here are some statistics BULKHEAD has shared on what the community has done so far with their time in WARDOGS:

Between 17:00 on 10 September and 05:00 on 14 September, the WARDOGS community generated some enormous numbers:

  • $1.28 trillion total cash earned
  • $561.9 billion total cash spent
  • 122.2 million kills
  • 86.1 million headshots
  • 60.7 million revives
  • 27.7 million heals
  • 4.6 million tower caps
  • 51.1 million drop-offs
  • 212.8 million spots
  • 111.8 million tips
  • 188.9 billion XP earned

And despite the bullets flying, WARDOGS players appear to understand that teamwork pays. Support is currently the highest XP-earning class, accounting for 21.42% of all XP earned, followed by Assault at 20.54% and Medic at 19.97%.

  • XP distribution:
  • Support: 21.42%
  • Assault: 20.54%
  • Medic: 19.97%
  • Recon: 18.66%
  • Driver: 10.57%
  • Pilot: 8.70%

Here’s to more sales and stats coming soon! WARDOGS is taking the FPS industry by storm, and comfortably resting at 4th or 5th place on the steam charts daily. The first reset for stats in Early Access is coming in a few weeks, at which point it’s expected to see a lot of balancing changes across the board. With the full 1.0 release still slated at two years out, there is bound to be a lot still to come! Get the game, get on the mortar, and contribute to the chaos. Be a WARDOG.
