Invented in 1971 by Merle Robbins, sold to International Games before settling in the game’s steward Mattel, the game has been enjoyed by millions around the world. While the stakes never got higher than who said uno first or can you place draw 2s on top of draw fours, Mattel has finally leapt over that low bar and revealed the 2026 UNO Championships where one player will be crowned Champion and take home a $50,000 prize.
To gather the contenders, Mattel will be holding four in-person events in Kissimmee, FL (October 3), Chicago, IL (October 10), and El Segundo, CA (October 17). For those who can’t make it or want an alternate route to the champions, they can participate in the UNO! Mobile Champion Series Digital Qualifier in the UNO! Mobile app. Players will need to play and win games in order to be eligible for qualification tournaments with a final tournament taking place on September 27th, where the top 4 will be invited to the main event set to take place in Los Angeles (Which will be streamed for those who wish to witness the crowning of a champion).
