The planet’s defenses rise in a brand new Final Fantasy VII Revelation trailer

A Final Fantasy VII Revelation wasn’t a surprise for those who were watching Gamescom Opening Night Live which aired yesterday, but rather what would Square Enix showcase from the third entry of their much anticipated Final Fantasy Remake Trilogy. The game got the second to last slot of the showcase and director Naoki Hamaguchi introduced the much anticipated clip

We are treated to address from Rufus Shinra, in which he attempts to calm the masses as a meteor is plummeting towards the planet. We finally see the terrifying planetary defense organisms known as Weapons, upscaled to be infinitely more intimidating! Ruby, Emerald and Ultima are given title cards (Poor Diamond, gets disrespected just because it’s not an optional super boss).

After the reintroduction of these endgame bosses, we see Cloud and friends declare their resolve in stopping the crisis, which showing off some new powers and mechanics. The first is the “FIT” system which will let you customize the crew to your liking and align the gameplay to previous entries of Final Fantasy. Additional traversal options will be available in the form of parachuting and grappling were showcased along with a familiar summon if Final Fantasy VII, Typhon or his localized name Chupon will be on your side to blow away anyone or thing that stands in your way.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be at Gamescom and hopefully those who will get this early look will share their impressions as soon as possible. For the rest of us we will have to wait until Spring 2027 to close out this Remake trilogy!
