Persona 4 Revival cutscenes to be animated by MAPPA and other P4R details from the Anime Expo

While many Americans were celebrating the 250th birthday of this great nation, anime fans congregated in Los Angeles to attend Anime Expo, the largest anime convention held in the US. Besides attracting manga and anime companies like Viz, Crunchyroll, the show also offered Video Game companies like ATLUS to reach their fanbase and the SEGA subsidy held a panel for their upcoming remake of the acclaimed 4th entry of their Persona franchise.

ATLUS Presents: Persona 4 Revival was hosted by Paul Castro Jr, the new voice of Yosuke Hanamura as he was joined by Kazuhisa Wada (General Producer – Persona Series), Yohsuke Uda (Business Producer – Persona Series), and Shigenori Soejima (Character Designer and Illustrator – ATLUS) to give attendees new details regarding the upcoming title.

Some of the reveals included the following:

  • English Voice Actor Abby Trott will voice the iconic idol, Rise Kujikawa.
    • Rise Kujikawa is a high school freshman idol who is quickly rising to fame. With her bright personality and disarming charm, she is widely known by the nickname “Risette.” Her grandmother runs a tofu shop in Inaba. Her Persona is Himiko.
  • The Persona 4 The Animation & Golden anime is available now on YouTube for FREE via Aniplex USA until August 19.
  • Current President and CEO of the Japanese animation studio MAPPA, Manabu Otsuka made a special appearance at the panel.
    • Otsuka-san announced to the crowd that all animation cutscenes in Persona 4 Revival will be produced by MAPPA.

The panel also showcased the differences between the character models of Persona 4 Golden and Persona 4 Revival, with the latter looking like it was a 3D rendering of Shigenori Soejima’s art much like how Persona 3 Reloaded saw a similar graphic upgrade when compared to Persona 3 Portable.

There’s still plenty more to reveal about this upcoming title, so if you want the latest information please follow ATLUS’s social media channels such as X, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and TikTok.

Persona 4 Revival will send you back to Inaba on February 18th, 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox platform. Pre-orders are available now and details can be found on the game’s official website linked here.
