On the roadmap, as mentioned, Activision has announced that they’re giving a week’s early access to play the campaign. One of the longest hurdles any good FOMO-ridden multiplayer gamer has had to get over is choosing when to actually play the campaign, so I for one have come to appreciate the increased commonality of this happening. Now I don’t have to worry about all my buddies leveling up past me while I play through the campaign… they’re stuck waiting to play multiplayer just like me! Then on October 20, they’re giving early access to the DMZ mode, which you can read a whole lot of info about here, on my last post.
Saved for “release” (which is kind of amusing to call it that, as ¾ of the actual content will already be out at this point), multiplayer’s accessibility will open up and you can hop into any of the 12 standard, three ground war, or 4 gunfight (2v2) maps. There’s also Kill Block, which is an extra map that I’m not totally sure what will be restricted to, but it’s going to be a map with three sections that change and adjust, providing a unique map layout each time you play. Sounds weird in a cool way; we’ll just have to wait and see.
Finally, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will have the map you never stop expecting to see coming on the 27th, four days after release. No, not Nuketown, that’s Treyarch’s thing. This is Infinity Ward; it’s time for Shipment, baby. Prepare your spawn, die, repeat commentary, because you know what’s coming… and you’ll love it, just like me. Also on the following days post-release, we’ll see a new “possession” game mode on the 29th, and Infected on the 30th. Not sure on what possession will be, but infected is a classic. Wrapping it all up, Season 1 will begin on November 6, at which point we will see another of these roadmap images full of all sorts of juicy new content.
Want to get in on this early access? Better make sure that you pre-order Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 right away. Friday’s just around the corner! We’re back to high quality Treyarch action-cinema campaigns from everything we’ve seen, so make sure you’re ready and don’t miss it!
