Looks like DC is hosting some sort of Contest of Champions with their latest fighter, DCKO!

With everyone speculating what NetherRealms Studios was going to do after they stopped updating on Mortal Kombat 1, the most prominent guess would be another DC fighting game. Given the studio’s release cadence of Injustice, MK X, Injustice 2, MK 11 (Yes, MK 1 technically broke the pattern), it would be a sure bet that the Chicago based studio would head back to the DC Universe after their time in the New Era was cut short.

Well, I hope you didn’t place that bet in Kalshi or Polymarket, because DC revealed today that there will be a new DC fighting game coming, but it won’t be from NetherRealm. DCKO which borrows its name from the 2025 comic event will be developed by what seems to be a brand new studio in the form of Drop Fake, Inc.. The new trailer shows your obligatory Batman vs Superman confrontation, but with a twist. Robin (Damien Wayne, most likely) leaps in to continue putting on the hurt on the blue boy scott (Where is Jon Kent to back his dad up?).

It looks like this mobile 2D fighter will feature tag team brawls as the trailer reveals the initial roster will feature characters such as Batman, Superman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Starfire, Nightwing, Bane, Zatanna, Raven, Catwoman, Blue Beetle, John Constantine, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, John Stewart, Lex Luthor, Bane, Doomsday and Katana, with new “Legends” releasing on a monthly cadence. Flipping through images on the game’s official website, it looks like you’ll be able to customize your heroes and villains to an extent, although hopefully it won’t promote “pay to win” tactics.

Pre-registration for the title is happening now on the game’s official website and the more people sign up, the more rewards will be handed out when the game launches.

DCKO will determine who is the strongest superhero when it punches its way onto iOS and Android.
