Outside of the record breaking tournament featuring Capcom’s premiere fighting franchise, EVO Japan also hosted tournaments for 11 other titles and numerous side tourneys. The event also saw numerous announcements for titles such as Tekken 8, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, as well as the reveal of a brand new entry in the Meltyblood franchise.
The next EVO event will be taking place in Las Vegas during June 26th to 29th. Let’s hope the “original” EVO will be able to wrest the world record from its younger Japanese sibling. If you want to help the effort you can visit evo.gg to throw your hat into the ring!
