Genshin Impact’s Version Luna VII update revealed!

We’re steadily approaching the end of a HoYoverse game patch, and we all know the drill by now. That means this morning boasted another Special Program, for Genshin Impact, introducing new characters, story, and other kinds of content to indulge in. You’re probably wondering what that includes, so hold your horses and let’s dive straight into all the juicy new details.

This latest update, Version Luna VII (or v6.6 if you still follow the numerical updates), introduces the long-awaited conclusion to Sumeru’s Archon Quest involving a very specific Dottore problem. As Nahida falls into an inexplicable slumber, Sumeru hovers on the brink of chaos. Meanwhile, a strange new foe appears, looking awfully similar to one Il Dottore, who was long assumed to have been defeated in Nod Krai. This new threat draws together Collei, Ibis King Thoth, the Hex Witch Nicole, and more familiar allies into a growing conflict. Completing this chapter of the Archon Quest during a limited-time period will garner you a nice bonus of 540 Primogems, a sizable helping of Nicole’s Ascension Materials, and a brand-new weekly boss to take on. In case you’ve forgotten the events of Sumeru’s Archon Quest, since it has been a while, you can use the new “Guiding Notes” feature to check up on in-game story recaps.

Beyond the main story, Luna VII also introduces a brand-new playable Hex Witch: Nicole Reeyn. As the first playable mage from the Hexenzirkel, she is a voiceless angel whose words speak directly to the heart and boasts the role of a 5-star Pyro Catalyst user. Nicole brings incredible teamwide support to the battlefield with her ATK boosting Elemental Skill while also providing a shield. Her Elemental Burst summons an Arcane Projection that follows the active character, unleashing Coordinated Attacks based on that character’s Elemental Type, gaining further enhancements with the Hex buff effects (two or more Witch units per party). Outside of combat, Nicole’s Charged Attack calls upon a Seelie, guiding her to nearby treasure.

In addition to Nicole joining the playable roster, the Vice Captain of the Knights of Favonius’ Fifth Company, Lohen, makes his debut. As a 5-star Cryo Polearm wielder, Lohen brings a distinct and aggressive playstyle to the field, dealing vast amounts of Cryo DMG through the management of two unique resources: “Joy” and “Will to Win”. By entering the “Masterstroke” state through his Elemental Skill, he can build up and use Joy stacks to unleash enhanced skills, while Will to Win accumulates as his teammates do battle, further amplifying his own damage potential. When paired with Hex characters, Lohen’s strengths can be brought even further to the forefront. Travelers that partake in his story quest will unlock an untold chapter from the history of the Knights of Favonius.

Rounding out the trio of new playable characters is the new 4-star Anemo Catalyst wielder Prune. Don’t let Catalyst be the fooling term there, she uses a bell and giant hammer to deal multi-Elemental DMG and trigger Swirl reactions. Prune will join the first half of the Luna VII banners alongside Nicole and Durin, whereas Lohen brings up the back half alongside Mavuika’s return.

Players will be able to play through a new limited-time event centered around Klee’s Little Hexenzirkel, and it invites players to take part in a variety of fun mini-games alongside Qiqi, Yaoyao, Sayu, and the newest member, Prune. As you progress, you’ll unlock a variety of rewards, including Primogems, materials, and an exclusive event weapon appearance “Super Awesome Magic Key.” Milistra Wonderland will also see the inclusion of a special sports festival for players to enjoy. Additionally, Manikins can now perform actions across Teyvat, allowing players to capture even more memorable moments with the Kamera. The Luna VII version update will also expand the editing tools and assets for Miliastra’s creators.

Genshin Impact’s Version Luna VII update arrives on May 20th, 2026, bringing a new exciting Archon Quest concluding a longstanding story from Sumeru, three new playable characters, and more. You can play it on PlayStation 5, iOS, Android, PC, and Xbox. If you’d like to watch the full stream, we’ll link it down here at the bottom for you.
