Super Battle Golf’s first major update is coming soon!

Super Battle Golf released back in February, and now after much positive reception, they’re releasing their first new set of courses… for free! If you’ve not heard about Super Battle Golf, you should check out our review. Coming April 9, developer Brimstone will be releasing the first major update in Super Battle Golf’s lifetime, bringing 18 new holes, a new (optional) wind mechanic, new items, and new cosmetics.

With this new update, you can expect to find nine new holes in the new snowy biome, as well as nine added to the existing coast biome to bring a bit more variety to existing zones. The new snowy courses will challenge everything you’ve learned by throwing unexpected curveballs at you as you play more. Between ice coating the ground and thick snow everywhere, you’ll be fighting the environment almost as much as your friends. Both player and ball may find themselves sliding about the course, so be careful where you’re moving!

Also on the topic of battling the environment, Super Battle Golf is also introducing any real golfer’s biggest enemy: the wind. As a togglable function available at the beginning of any new run, wind adds another layer of depth to every game you play, as you may find it increasingly difficult to make that precise shot into the hole from any given location. While some players may not enjoy the added difficulty of calculating your shots, I do think this should add some interesting twists in motion. Luckily since you can toggle it, everyone should be happy.

For the new weapons being added, Super Battle Golf is adding two new ones – the Rocket Driver and the Freeze Bomb. You can probably piece together from their names what these two items do, but just if not, they’re both pretty simple. The rocket driver is a club with a rocket strapped on for twice the swing power you’d typically get. But not only that, you can alternatively use it as a propulsion device to fling yourself down range by overcharging it. Fly through the skies and over your friends to catch up if you find yourself bullied by too many mines and rifle shots flung your way. The freeze bomb is a block of ice that you lob to freeze nearby players completely. You can also throw it at any water on the field to temporarily freeze it solid.

And last but not least, you will find a swathe of new cosmetics available when this update drops on April 9th. It’s not clear whether these will be unlockable or free from their current press release, but even if you have to earn them, currency in game is easy to get. All you need to do is participate in games! So you better find some time to get on before the update and get some cash to prepare for your glow up on April 9! Hop on, bring some friends, and get on the green (white? It is a snow update after all).
