What was once a rarity is now something that is rather commonplace. Guest characters in fighting games would usually take up one roster slot in older titles, but now it seems we’re getting enough guest characters that you’ll need a second hand to count them all. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves might need a third hand to count their guest characters as Tekken 8’s Reina will be joining Street Fighter’s Ken and Chun Li, Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star, Manjiro and Ken from Tokyo Revengers as well two real life people in the form of Salvatore Ganacci and footballer Cristiano Ronaldo as they all seem to have business in Southtown.
The mysterious student who attends Mishima Polytechnical School just found her way to South Town and opted to enter the King of Fighters more or less on a whim. Her appearance in City of the Wolves offers something that she lacks in her home series…an english voice actress. Kate Clarke who has been featured in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Honkai: Star Rail, Undead Unluck will be portraying the character in this guest appearance.
I also enjoy that SNK explicitly says this was a bit of a “returning of a favor” as Tekken 7 saw Geese Howard face off against all comers in the King of the Iron Fist tournament.
Reina will close out the title’s 3rd season and it will be interesting to see how well she transitions from a 3D fighter to a 2D one. She will be released during the month of December.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is available now on PC and consoles.
