With the year 1 roadmap wrapped up, 2K and Gearbox Software today announced that the Borderlands franchise has officially topped 100 million units sold, worldwide — from Borderlands 1 way back in 2010 through Borderlands 4 last year, and everything in between.
So to celebrate the massive milestone, 2K and Gearbox are kicking off sales on the entire Borderlands franchise which can be seen right now on all digital storefronts. They have also committed to continue to listen to player feedback and will be announcing new content and updates for 2027.
More importantly, players can participate in an upcoming community fundraising event known as “The Hunt”, starting tomorrow November 6th to support St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. 2K Foundations and Gearbox will once again match every dollar donated in an effort to top $230,000 for the charity.

Today 2K and Gearbox Software announced that the Borderlands franchise officially crossed 100 million units sold. In celebration of this milestone, titles across the Borderlands franchise are now on sale for a limited time to give both new and returning players the opportunity to experience this global, decade spanning phenomenon. See individual platform stores for details.
The most recent addition to this storied franchise, Borderlands 4, was released just over a year ago with a wealth of content introduced in its first 12 months, and, now with the conclusion of the Year 1 roadmap, Gearbox’s development team is hard at work on even more Borderlands 4 content for players in 2027. Additions over the past year include:
- Two Story Packs;
- Five Bounty Packs;
- Two new Vault Hunters;
- Two free Raid Boss encounters and “Takedown” endgame raid;
- A slew of additional features, quality of life updates, optimizations, and activities.
Moving forward, Weekly Activity refreshes and Community Challenges will continue. The team is constantly listening to community feedback, and they are exploring additional character arcs, storylines, and an exciting overall direction for the future of the franchise. Players are encouraged to share thoughts on social media and tune into the Gearbox Devcast.
Starting November 6th, Borderlands players will soon be participating in The Hunt. Earlier this year, this long-standing community fundraising event generated a record-breaking $118,995.80 USD to support St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital in its mission to cure and treat childhood diseases. This time, we have a challenge: 2K Foundations and Gearbox will match every dollar donated to The Hunt up to the previous record amount, potentially raising over $230,000 for St. Jude.
Borderlands 4 is now available worldwide for PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
