Narratively, the humanity faction which has been living underground will once again try to reclaim the surface with their 3rd Surface Reclamation War. Unlike previous attempts, humanity has amassed some very unlikely allies. Aside from the contributions from the three major corporations of Elysion , Missilis Industry and Tetra Line, outside factions such as Eden, the Pioneers (formerly the Goddess Squad), Old Tales, White Knight Squad and even the Rapture subfaction of the Four Beasts. However the rapture forces have bolstered their own ranks with a new heretic in the form of the recently corrupted Dorothy! This clash will take place in chapters 49-50 and its conclusion promises a brand new arc.
On the side event front, we might finally learn of the Marian’s past, in the event dubbed “Maria-n”. Was our meeting with her truly all the way back in chapter one our first encounter? It will be interesting to see what truly is the past the commander and Marian shared before the start of the game. Also as part of the event, enjoy a visual novel mini game dubbed “Fading Affection” which will likely invoke plenty of emotions if the previous visual novel mini game “White Memory” acts as a precedent.
On the front which will likely drain our summon tickets, gems and even our hard earned cash, the 4th anniversary will see the release of Marian: Queen, perhaps her penultimate form hopefully placing her on even terms with the Rapture Queen. Two members of pioneer also return with upgrades thanks to their wayward sisters, Scarlet: Goddeath offers a cast away armor which reveals a speedy form, wielding a brand new blade formed by the remnants of her and her sister Rose’s previous sword. After fending off an attempt to corrupt her by Red Shoes, Rapunzel: Sanctuary incorporates the former’s technology to give her enhanced mobility so that she quickly reaches and tends to those wounded in the battlefield. As part of the 4th anniversary celebration, Rapunzel: Sanctuary will be given out to players who participated in events during the Anniversary updates.
On the cosmetic front, you might not like them, but just like the corruption in-game, you will succumb to it eventually (Ok, I did). This update will offer not one but two Gacha costumes. The first is Marian: Queen – Last Affection, where Marian is looking like a vision in white, ready to walk down the aisle with her beloved commander. On the opposite end, Snow White: Heavy Arms – Lacrimosa (Which is the Latin word meaning “tearful,” “weeping,” or “full of tears,”) looks like someone who is in mourning, perhaps grieving the loss of her colleagues such as Red Hood and Liliweiss. On the mission pass front, Neon: Vision Eye and Nayuta will be the focus offering costumes for these somewhat recent units.
The celebration comes to the real world, as the game will host two events on both sides of the US. Taking place in New York on October 29th is the Time Square Billboard Event. Where the “Crossroads of the World” will be showing a NIKKE ad once every ten minutes on One Times Square (1475 Broadway & 42nd St.). Fans are encouraged to take photos although as a native New Yorker, I ask you please don’t dawdle as…I’M TRYING TO WALK HERE! Kicking off on Halloween and lasting til November 14th, Animate Los Angeles will be hosting a NIKKE In-Store event which will feature NIKKE decor, 3D illusion wall art, exclusive merchandise and even community events. The store is located in Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrence, CA.
So are you bracing for heartbreak, looking forward to what could be the conclusion of Goddess of Victory: NIKKE’s first major storyline, or just want to roll for some units with the 259 free summons you can earn.
