PlayStation State of Play gives us an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation as well as a release date

If you were able to sit through the countless “No Disc, No Buy” messages in chat (I just never had chat on…but that’s me), you were treated to a fairly substantive State of Play from PlayStation. The publisher showcased an array of titles covering numerous genres and release status, but they certainly saved the best for last as we got an extended look at the finale of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Remake Trilogy.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation will finally allow players to explore the world at their leisure as Cloud and the gang will get access to an airship, The Highwind. Once you reach your destination, you won’t even have to lower the landing gear as you can just jump off the edge of the ship and parachute down to your destination. The extended look also showcased Wutai, the eastern tinged homeland of your materia loving companion, Yuffie and confirmed that your adventure can go through some familiar locales such as Gongaga and reunite with characters from the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series. Most importantly we finally got to do away with the game’s release window and got a committed release date of April 8th, 2027.

After the State of Play we also got some more information on the game. Such as the various SKUs that will be available to players, included a triple pack which will grant you access to the trilogy’s first two titles as well as the Square Enix Store exclusive Collector’s edition which packs a statue of the Soldier trio of Cloud, Zack.

Magic the Gathering fans will want to pick up the game as the title will pack in the Final Showdown card, an instant which can cause 1 of 3 effects with art by the entry’s character designer Tetsuya Nomura. The biggest mic drop that saw the least amount of noise would have to be the announcement of extra story content that will expand the stories of Sephiroth and Vincent. DLC 1 will come in Winter of 2027 and DLC 2 will release in Spring 2028.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation will close out the Remake Trilogy when it comes to the PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 on April 8th, 2026.  Make sure to pre-order it right here!
