Since 2017, Penny Arcade and ReedPop have offered analog gamers, be they board gamers, tcg players, a weekend towards the end of the year to congregate and celebrate all things tabletop in Philadelphia.
The biggest allure of PAX Unplugged has been a weekend where you can indulge in boardgaming and great food (Due to the show’s proximity to Reading Terminal Market), but one of the complaints amongst the group I roll with is the time of year it falls upon. While we are rarely actually outside, the Philadelphia winters can be harsh and it seems the organizers might be in agreement as they announced a second Unplugged show, this time emanating in Houston Texas in the middle of June.
Starting in 2027, PAX Unplugged Houston (Guess they didn’t want to do the cardinal directions suffix as the regular PAXes) will let you enjoy gaming, panels, tournaments, shopping and much much in the early summer weather in the heart of Texas. The event will be housed in the George R. Brown Convention Center from June 25th to the 27th 2027 and tickets will go on sale later this year.
It’s actually pretty nice for the organizers to revisit Texas, given that PAX actually had a show in San Antonio for roughly six years. It’ll definitely be easier on the wallet for gamers from these regions than to trek northeast to get their fix. It’ll definitely be a show to watch!
