Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo walks the dog onto the Nintendo Switch 2

When I first saw Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo at a convention many moons ago, I was charmed by the GBA style visuals and the fun yo-yo based combat system. My mind was further blown when the dev showed me various display modes with one including a mock GBA showcasing the title on its virtual 2.9 inch screen. While the final version of the game lost the mock GBA (probably as to not startle Nintendo’s very active legal team), it’s charm and great gameplay persisted and for me was one of the highlights of 2025 (#18 on the list).

So with all that aside, Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo will now be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 natively today bringing visual and performance upgrades on Nintendo’s current gen system. For those who own the title on the original Switch digitally, fret not as publisher PM Studios and developer Pocket Traps are offering a free upgrade path for Switch owners so you can enjoy enhancements on the Switch 2 like the following:

  • 120 FPS gameplay in handheld mode at 1080p
  • HDR support for richer colors and contrast
  • 4K resolution while docked

Now if they’ll only offer a physical collector’s edition that the other platforms got…I just want a Pippit Plush, damn it!

Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo is now on the Nintendo Switch 2, the game is also available on PC, Switch, the PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
