1666: Amsterdam arriving in Early Access this month

1666: Amsterdam, the latest game from Patrice Désilets — who you may know as creative director of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Assassin’s Creed — has had a long, winding journey. It was initially revealed well over a decade ago, and it’s been quiet ever since. Then it got re-revealed back at Summer Games Fest…and now, improbably, we already a release date that’s not far off at all.

Or, at least, we have an Early Access date: August 25th. And to mark the occasion, Désilets’ studio, Panache Digital Games, have put out a gameplay trailer showing just how it all works. As you’d expect, there’s a decent bit of Assassin’s Creed DNA in there, but it all makes it seem like it’ll be worth checking out. And the good thing is, we’ll know in exactly two weeks whether it’s been worth the wait!

Panache Digital Games today announced that 1666: Amsterdam will launch in Early Access on August 25 for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store for $29.99 USD.

To mark the announcement, the team has also released an all-new Gameplay Feature showcasing the core gameplay systems players will master throughout their journey as Noa and Aaron.

The video offers the most in-depth look yet at the game’s investigation mechanics as players hunt the mysterious Originals across Amsterdam. It also showcases combat, the day and night cycle, Noa’s mystical abilities, Aaron’s feline gameplay, and how both characters combine their unique skills to uncover hidden truths and restore the balance of the world.
