Star Racer zeroes in on a Switch release this fall

In the future we won’t need no damn wheels, and Star Racer hopes to treat players with high-adrenaline races across futuristic landscapes as it finally arrives on the Nintendo Switch this fall.

It’s not hard to figure out that this game is inspired by F-Zero, so it must be a momentous occasion for team at Whatnot Games and Crossbridge games to launch their title on the platform which housed…F-Zero 99 (Ok, the franchise has been dormant for a while, which I guess justifies Star Racer’s existence).

In addition to single player content, you and three of your friends can race in local multiplayer mode. Also if you grow tired of the tracks that come with the title, you can use the track editor to build your own maniacal motorways for you and your races to speed across…no Japan-only peripheral required.

The title also boasts a soundtrack with contributions from the legendary composer Grant Kirkhope, whose works have appeared in games such as Goldeneye 007, Donkey Kong 64, Perfect Dark, Yooka-Laylee and more! To commemorate the impending launch on the Nintendo Switch, the studios have made Star Racer’s soundtrack available to stream for free on most major streaming platforms.

Star Racer is available now on PC and will come to the Nintendo Switch in Q3 2026, you can wishlist the title on the Nintendo eShop.
