As someone who cut their teeth on skateboarding games from the late 90s, any time a new skateboarding game gets announced I’ll at least give the trailer a peek. While it’s not the most visually impressive title (Perhaps the team was invoking visuals from the PS2 era), let me start from the beginning.
At the Games Composed in Germany event which kicked off today, developer Goon Squad GmbH (That’s how you can tell a company is German…or Austrian or Swiss technically.) and publisher Headup revealed the release date for their arcadey skateboarding game Skatesterre starring Dutch Skater/content creator Sterre Meijer. The release trailer shows the action and songs you’ll be experiencing when you’re pulling out timed runs in arenas littered with collectibles. The game certainly wears its inspirations on its sleeves. One of the more distinct bullet points in the game’s press release was that there were “Unlockable Fashion items and outfits”, so perhaps we’ll be hitting the vert ramps with something you won’t expect from other pro-skaters…
Guess we’ll find out how glammed out we can make Sterre when Skatesterre pushes itself onto PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and the Switch 2 on August 13th.
