We had amazing things to say about the original Nintendo Switch release of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 back in 2017, so now nearly a decade later Nintendo Switch 2 owners will get in on the new and improved JRPG experience!

Set to release on July 30th, 2026 (pre-order it digitally or physically right here on Amazon), the Switch 2 Edition definitely looks quite a bit nicers, sporting a 4K resolution in TV mode, full HD resolution in handheld mode, running “up to” 60fps.   There’s also new content including “a Rare Blade named MOMO, a new quest, and the ability to command your Blades directly in the new Merc Assault action battle mode. There are also new outfit designs available for Pyra and Mythra!”

Those who own the Switch original and its DLC can purchase an upgrade pack for about $10.

Today’s new overview trailer offers the best look yet at the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game ahead of its July 30 launch.

The trailer highlights Rex and Pyra’s journey to the fabled paradise of Elysium while showcasing the game’s story, characters, combat and new Nintendo Switch 2 enhancements. Check it out here.

In Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, you’ll command a group of Blades to explore the vast continents and lead them to strategic victories. The expansive adventure features enhanced 4K1 resolution in TV mode, and full HD in handheld mode, up to 60 frames per second. New additions include a new Rare Blade named MOMO, a new quest, and the ability to command your Blades directly in the new Merc Assault action battle mode. There are also new outfit designs available for Pyra and Mythra!

If you already have Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for Nintendo Switch, you can purchase an upgrade pack2 to access the enhancements for the game on Nintendo Switch 2, including resolution and framerate updates to Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country, included in the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Expansion Pass. Those who have the standalone version of Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country will also gain access to the resolution and framerate enhancements via a free update.
