You thought current game prices are high, someone paid 3 million dollars for Super Mario Bros. at Heritage Auction’s latest Video Games Signature Auction

Remember when your parents said your video games won’t be worth anything? Guess they were wrong…but with an asterisk. At Heritage Auctions’ latest Video Games Signature Auction which took place on June 12th to the 13th, a sealed 2nd run Nintendo copy of Super Mario Bros rated at 9.6 by PSA was sold at an eye-bulging $3 million dollars.

It really goes to show the mantra “Games should be played” isn’t a profitable one. This latest auction brought in over $5 million dollars with several titles reaching a six figure final price. Some of the highlights include a sealed copy of Slalom, sealed retail copies of NES staples Super Mario Bros and The Legend of Zelda. It’s certainly making me question my stance regarding games grading and perhaps I might get some of the sealed pieces in my collection slabbed for posterity sake.
