Whenever Vanillaware’s visuals appear on screen, I certainly will find myself moving ever closer to my screen and that’s certainly what happened at yesterday’s Nintendo Direct when Muramasa: Revenant Blades appeared on my screen.
This remake which is based on the Wii title Muramasa: The Demon Blade also includes the extra content found in the Vita port, Muramasa: Rebirth is finally returning to modern platforms after 17 years!. Experience the tale of Momohime and Kisuke as well as the Genroku Legends, four pieces of DLC which featured characters based on Japanese Folklore. Travel across the land craft swords with different attributes and strengths and of course enjoy cuisine beautifully depicted by George Kamitani!
Physical editions of this release will be available via the Marvelous USA Online Store and select retailers. A standard edition on the PS5 and Nintendo Switch will be available for $49.99, a Switch 2 version which will not be a game key card will cost $59.99. A limited edition will be available for these three platforms at 89.99 and 99.99 respectively and will feature an artbook, CD soundtrack with select pieces composed by Casiscape, and capping off the package will be a 10”x14” byōbu folding screen featuring the game’s key art.
This will also be the first ever Vanillaware developed title to appear on PC, so make sure you support this release so we can convince the developer to finally let their titles come onto this platform!
Muramasa: Revenant Blades will release sometime in 2027 on PC, PS5 and the Switch platform.
