SNK teases a new entry of Metal Slug as the franchise celebrates its 30th anniversary

Time marches on endlessly and every cycle around the sun is an occasion to celebrate. 2026 will mark the 30th anniversary of SNK’s run and gun series Metal Slug. The tough as nails franchise has seen releases on over 14 platforms and crossed over to genres such as tower defense, and turn based tactics.

SNK to commemorate this milestone has launched the Metal Slug 30th Anniversary Project and this project entails a brand new website which looks at the history of the game, a dedicated social media account which will share updates and news as the anniversary year progresses and a special video which looks at the breadth of the franchise’s history as well as tease its future.

Metal Slug fans will certainly be able to get their hands on Metal Slug products during the anniversary year as the original Metal Slug will be part of the NEOGEO AES+ launch lineup. Hopefully the merchandise will see a global release rather than just a limited localized release.
