When we first set foot into the world of Teyvat, we knew that this world was composed of seven nations. We saw six of the seven regions in our six year journey and the team at HoYoverse hosted a special livestream where they revealed when we will set foot onto the realm. We’ve heard plenty of whispers about Snezhnaya.
This Icy region ruled by the Tsaritiza has proven to be quite a mystery. At first we assumed this was an antagonistic nation as Fatui Harbingers sought to gather the Gnosis of each nation’s Archon. However some of these very Harbingers would be steadfast allies in pushing back the calamities that befell the various nations of Teyvat. So in keeping with something they started when the game was able to introduce the Nod Krai region, the HoYoverse team offered a special livestream which discusses various topics regarding this upcoming region.
Behind the Scenes of Genshin Impact “To Snezhnaya and the Future” offers plenty of insight regarding the icy nation of the Fatui and some of the topic broached include the following:
- Story and World-Building: The culmination of plot lines, dating back to the game’s launch, will reveal the Tsaritsa’s agenda and the fate of the six Gnoses
- Cultural Inspirations: Trains, as both a new cultural element and new functional vehicle, and music inspired by classical symphonic traditions and Slavic folk music
- Evolving Combat and Interaction Mechanics: Cryo as a means of preservation in the open world, along with more brand-new gameplay
- Visual Improvements: Across-the-board character visual upgrades and greater integration of gameplay and cinematic storytelling
The 20ish minute clip is definitely worth a watch and I’m surprised at some of the references and people that got brought up. Films like Snowpiercer, games like Metro, Final Fantasy VII Remake and even Hideo Kojima gets a name drop. Want context? Check out the video embedded below.
The closing of the video drops the biggest news of the video. A redemption code for 200 primogems phrased “Snezhnaya20260812” announces players will be able to set foot on this frozen land this Summer…how ironic.
