Sonic and Friends’ latest racing adventure Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds have seen plenty of characters not from the SEGA stable of characters such as Pac-Man, SpongeBob SquarePants, Minecraft Steve and even Capcom’s Mega Man. However this Wednesday April 29th, the newest racer joining the game’s vast roster will be from RGG Studios, the developer of the SEGA’s long running Yakuza/Like a Dragon series.
Goro Majima, the Mad Dog of Shimano has been featured in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series since the very beginning and his popularity continues to grow to the point where he not only was a co-protagonist in a prequel (Yakuza 0) and the protagonist for a side title (Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii). It’s the persona from the side title, Captain Majima who will be trading pirate ships for a race car.
The Captain Majima Content Drop will include the Captain Majima racer, the vehicle Gorormaru (modeled after the pirate ship from Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii), emotes and sounds. This content will be available for free to all users of the title. Speaking of free, those looking to try the thrills of racing across different worlds can try out the title for free on PC via Steam Free Weekend set to kick off from April 30th to May 4th. If you enjoy your time you can even pick up the title for 40% off during SEGA’s Golden Week Sale taking place on the digital storefront from April 23rd to May 7th.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is available now on PC, the Xbox, PlayStation and Switch platforms.
