One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 will finally set sail on the next gen console seas

Ahoy there fans of the Straw Hat Crew, Bandai Namco has obviously taken their sweet time announcing a next gen/new gen update for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 (see our review here from about 5 years ago), but it’s now officially coming!  Even though next gen isn’t really “next gen” anymore.

Anywho, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 will land on the PS5 and Xbox Series X as new releases, but Bandai Namco was feeling generous and is also offering free upgrades for those who picked up the last gen versions. Nice!

Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. today announced that ONE PIECE PIRATE WARRIORS 4 is coming to new-gen consoles, with the release date to be revealed later. The new version will bring one of the most popular games based on the beloved anime franchise to even more players, with the original selling 4 million units sold worldwide since its launch in 2020.  Once released, both versions of the game will continue to receive updates as new DLC will be released in the future, including one where fans can pick their favorite characters to play in the game. ONE PIECE PIRATE WARRIORS 4 will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with free upgrades available for players who own versions on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Developed by KOEI TECMO Games, ONE PIECE PIRATE WARRIORS 4 is an action game that lets players relieve the story of the Straw Hat Crew and other key ONE PIECE characters, fighting their way through hundreds and hundreds of enemies using devastating attacks. ONE PIECE PIRATE WARRIORS 4 The original release is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. The new version coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will feature visual enhancements and more, letting players experience the frantic action gameplay in a completely new way.

Exciting new content is also on the horizon, including a future DLC where fans will have the chance to decide who will join the game’s expansive roster. Starting today through February 28, 2025, a User Survey will allow fans to vote for up to three favorite characters from a list of 23 characters. The results of the survey will determine which characters will be featured in an upcoming paid DLC. Additional details about the DLC packs will be revealed soon.
