Nintendo Direct 3.3.2016 details upcoming Wii U/3DS titles, SNES games for New 3DS

In a new Nintendo Direct video, we were reminded of new and upcoming releases for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The 41-minute video can be viewed in full below (no mobile or NX information within):

Nintendo Direct 3.3.2016:

Nintendo began with Star Fox Zero on the Wii U, along with the reveal of Star Fox Guard (formerly known as Project Guard), a strategy game starring Slippy the Toad which will be bundled with physical copies of Star Fox Zero.

Super Mario Maker and Splatoon will continue to receive updates, with a significant addition of locks & keys to Mario Maker, allowing players to create more deliberate and structured boss fights. Splatoon will see more weapon tweaks and overall balancing.

Nintendo also revealed Paper Mario: Color Splash, what looks to be a spiritual successor to Sticker Star, and named the long-awaited SMT x FE with an official title of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. For anyone wondering about whether Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE was going to be localized for western audiences, they now have confirmation.

The 3DS is also looking at a nice lineup over the following months, with Hyrule Warriors Legends and Bravely Second: End Layer on the horizon. Metroid Prime: Federation Force also returns with a more realized perspective of the game’s ambition.

New titles were introduced for 2016, including a port of Dragon Quest VII which has been rebuilt from the ground up, along with a new Kirby game titled Kirby: Planet Robobot, and Monster Hunter Generations.

Perhaps one of the bigger surprises was the reveal of SNES games to Virtual Console on the New 3DS handhelds, as the console has processing power to support SNES emulation. Titles currently available include Super Mario World, F-Zero and Pilotwings. In the coming weeks, North America’s eShop will see Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario Kart and EarthBound (March 24), with another set of games following: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid and Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy?s Quest (April 14).

My Nintendo was also mentioned briefly, as the service will be launching with Nintendo’s Miitomo smartphone app at some time within March.
