DRIVECLUB was always intended to be a “free” game for PlayStation Plus members, though there are more than a few differences between the full priced retail game and the PlayStation Plus Edition. Enough that Sony felt they needed to better explain them.
So today, we get a new trailer and a new PS Blog post trying to break down what’s the same and what’s different when it comes to the upcoming versions of the game. Basically, the PS Plus edition includes one location, 11 tracks, 10 cars and all the game modes, whereas the full-priced retail version (Blu-ray and digital) comes packed with 5 locations, 55 tracks, 50 cars and all 50 tour events.
The free edition can be upgraded to the full version by parting with $49.99 for as long as your PS Plus subscription is in effect. It’s still a bit confusing, so it honestly seems to make the most sense to spend the full $59.99 and just avoid the free version if you have any interest in the game.

The simple answer is that with an active PlayStation Plus subscription, you can download DRIVECLUB PlayStation Plus Edition, which comes with one location (India), 11 tracks, 10 cars and access to all game modes.

If you?re an active PlayStation Plus subscriber and have been playing the PlayStation Plus Edition, but decide you want the full DRIVECLUB experience, you can purchase a one-time upgrade for $49.99. This will give you access to all five locations, 55 tracks, 50 cars and all 50 tour events, as long as your PlayStation Plus subscription remains active.
If you?re not an active PlayStation Plus member, you can still get DRIVECLUB via the PlayStation Store or your local retailer on Blu-ray.
