Call of Duty: Ghosts is still leading the next-gen launch

About a week ago, Activision was pretty sure that Call of Duty: Ghosts was the best selling next-generation launch game for the PS4 and Xbox One (at key retailers). Today, they elaborated a little more on why they believe that they are on top of the next-generation launch library, globally.

Ghosts is the top selling Xbox One and PS4 title in North America at Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart. In the UK, Ghosts is the #1 standalone (unbundled) piece of  Xbox One software.  With the PS4 launching this Friday in the region, we’re guessing that version of Ghosts will also take take spot.

It is also the “most played” PS4 and Xbox One launch title, globally, at this point.

The next generation of game consoles is here, and Call of Duty: Ghosts is the must have game. Activision?s blockbuster title is the #1 most played Xbox One multiplayer game worldwide, according to Microsoft, while becoming the #1 top selling Xbox One title in retail sales in North America at retailers Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart. In standalone Xbox One software retail sales*, the game also is #1 in the United Kingdom, according to GfK Charttrack. Additionally, Call of Duty: Ghosts is the #1 most played PlayStation 4 game, according to Sony Computer Entertainment America, and continues to be the #1 top selling PS4 title in retail sales in North America at Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart.

Further reflecting the demand for the newest entry in Activision?s famed franchise, in a recent GameStop holiday survey conducted of 1,000 PowerUp Rewards (PUR) loyalty members and 500 general gift-givers, Call of Duty: Ghosts is the most desired video game this holiday season.

In addition to being the #1 Xbox One multiplayer game on Xbox Live, Call of Duty: Ghosts also is currently the #1 most played Xbox 360 multiplayer game, according to Microsoft.

More than 1 billion multiplayer matches of Call of Duty: Ghosts already have been played across all versions. Ghosts? players have Prestiged more than 2.2 million times, earning over 3.3 trillion Experience Points (XP), according to internal gameplay statistics.

Call of Duty: Ghosts launched for both current gen systems and PS4 on November 5, and on November 22 on Xbox One, the all-in-one videogames and entertainment system from Microsoft.

*United Kingdom sales figures exclude games sold as bundles with Xbox One console hardware.
