Well, EA and PopCap finally previewed the game at GamesCom, and at least we have some attractive new screens to go along with the details. The game will be exclusive to the Xbox One at first and hit later this year.
Peggle 2 screens:
PopCap Games, creator of some of the world?s most beloved video game franchises and a division of Electronic Arts Inc., today provided the first glimpse of Peggle 2, the sequel to the number 1 puzzle game of 2007. Launching later this year first exclusively on Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, Peggle 2 propels players to the peg-popping paradise of the original while delivering a host of new features and functionality. Unveiled today at gamescom, Peggle 2 offers all-new levels, new and improved power-ups, fantastic multiplayer modes, gesture controls with Kinect for Xbox One, the ability to customize the ?Peggle Masters? who host the game, and much more.
?With Peggle 2, we?re taking everything that our fans love about Peggle and bringing it to another level,? said Jared Neuss, Lead Producer on Peggle 2. ?The new Peggle Masters have tons of personality, their powers are all completely over the top and there is a massive amount of content for players to explore. We?re also focused on taking full advantage of all that the Xbox One has to offer by giving our fans new ways to control the game, share their favorite moments and compete with their friends.?
Just as in the classic original, Peggle 2 combines elements of pinball, pachinko and billiards and adds liberal doses of whimsy, fun, excitement and challenge ? not to mention rainbows and a fifth of Beethoven.
Peggle 2 will be available at launch for Xbox One; pricing and other details, including future platforms, will be disclosed at a later date.
