While lacking a bit of polish, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is still an impressive piece of work on the PS3 and PS Vita alike, especially for PlayStation fans and those fond of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros series.

The big PS3 and PS Vita release officially slips until November 20th for polishing and tuning. Well… at least it’s still coming in 2012. Right?
The PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale beta is live, and here’s our first look at it! It might still be a little rough around the edges, but there’s a lot of promise in this mascot fighter.
Sony today announced that PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, their SuperBot-developed, action-packed, anticipated PS3/PS Vita multiplayer brawler, is powering up for an October 23rd, 2012 release. New characters to be revealed later today.
To go along with the live demo during Sony’s E3 press conference, the confirmation of PS3 to PS Vita cross play/content/saves, and the announcement of Big Daddy and Drake as playable characters, SCEA sent over some new media showing off the fun looking multiplayer brawler.
SCEA this morning announced what has been rumored (but pretty much confirmed) for weeks. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is essentially Super Smash Bros. with PlayStation characters for the PS3, but fans won’t care much. Check out the first screens, video interview and details.
