As most Wii U owners know by now, Rayman Legends was delayed from its February release date all the way until September to launch alongside the newly announced PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. This delay infuriated many fans across the globe and prompted heated discussions across forums and on Ubisoft’s Facebook page. While Ubisoft hasn’t changed its mind to delay the game, there is a silver lining.
Launching in April for the eShop exclusively for Wii U is the new Rayman Legends online challenge mode. This will be free for all users and will allow players to take part in daily and weekly challenges spanning five different levels. The developers will even take part in the online mode so you can try your best to beat their high scores on the leaderboards. All of the challenges are available to play solo or with up to 4 friends (5 players total).
Sure, this doesn’t totally make up for the delay and the politics involved, but I do commend the development team for going the extra mile to give fans something to play in the downtime. Instead of delivering another demo they are giving us a nice chunk of online gaming fun that we might not have otherwise gotten without the passionate fans speaking out on the issue. What do you think? Is it enough to quench your thirst until September? Leave us a comment below!
