It seems people are excited about Stranger than Heaven as SEGA reports the title has been wishlisted over 1 million across all platforms

Am I a bad person because I don’t necessarily wishlist all the titles I plan to buy? Well apologies to SEGA and RGG Studio that I will not be part of the milestone that they have revealed this week.

The publisher and developer of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise revealed that their upcoming decades spanning title Stranger than Heaven has received over 1 million wishlists across. While we don’t really know what the Wishlist to Purchasers Conversion rate is, the wishlisting system does help gauge player excitement and could lead to bigger marketing pushes like a playable demo…or maybe a clean release of the earworm of a song which debuted in the game’s Cast & Story Reveal Trailer ( I’m sure the hold up is really because all the musical acts that are featured in the song, Snoop Dogg, Ado, Tori Kelly).

If you can’t wait until the game’s January 2027 release date and you happen to be in the Seattle area this weekend, you’re in luck! The game can be demo’d at the SEGA booth (booth #609 in the Arch Building) at PAX West, anyone who demos the game will not only get the bragging rights as one of the first people to get hands on with the game, but they will also get a tote bag as proof!.

Stranger than Heaven changes the Japanese Underworld when it launches on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 on January 14th, 2027.

Postscript: I actually decided to do the right thing and click that wishlist button…woo, part of the in crowd!
