International Games System or as they’re commonly known as IGS might not be as well known as say SNK or Capcom, but the studio founded in 1991 has been churning out arcade titles with a Chinese/Taiwanese flair utilizing their own PolyGame Master hardware. Gamers in the west has scant exposure to the company’s portfolio short of youtube videos until IGS Classic Arcade Collection was quietly released on the Nintendo Switch in 2023. Partnering with H2 Interactive, the collection will finally escape Nintendo’s console/handheld hybrid and is coming to PC.
IGS Classic Arcade Collection will bundle a selection of the company’s arcade output such as its Romance of the Three Kingdoms inspired beat’em up, the Knights of Valour series, the company’s take on Journey to the West, Oriental Legend, their attempt as a fighting game in Martial Masters and more. This collection will offer online multiplayer, modern accessibility options such as save states, cheat options as well as special move short cuts for the fighting game.
Personally I was hoping for the IGS Classic Arcade Collection to escape the Switch (While the platform is great, the joycons aren’t exactly the best controller for fighting games), so it’s nice to know I’ll be able to experience it on my home pc or possibly to go on the Steam Deck.
IGS Classic Arcade Collection will release on PC, August 13th, 2026.
