It’s been nearly a full decade since Bethesda has announced anything major and we all remember the teaser for Elder Scrolls VI. We’re still without a release window or a title, but we do have news on it. We also have news about the latest Fallout releases, so keep your pants held tight so as to not lose them. This morning of July 17th, 2026, Bethesda made a long post on Twitter (now X) and their official site going in depth on their plans to do more with the Fallout franchise, the state of their company, and what they’re planning on doing with existing titles.
They’ve touched on some things involving player Creations for the Creation Club, including that creators have been paid out over $10M since they began rolling it out across Starfield, Skyrim, and Fallout 4. This led into the discussion about Starfield’s continued support, including the expansion of the Settled Systems content with new stories, targeted gameplay improvements, and some unnamed additional updates. There’s a note about Starborn content coming next year, although as someone that didn’t really play Starfield, I’m not 100% sure what that entails.
Following Creation Club and Starfield news, Bethesda wants you to know they’re still working on The Elder Scrolls VI. We still don’t have a full title to know where it’s set or a release window, but Bethesda tells us they’re working on it every day and like what they have done so far.
A big speculation, especially lately, has been about what Bethesda’s doing with the Fallout franchise. The last single player Fallout title released was Fallout 4 roughly 11 years ago with Fallout 76 having been released 8 years ago. With the success of the Fallout TV show, surely they’d have something to capitalize on it, right? Don’t worry, after years and years of nothing but 76 updates, there’s some news to tie Fallout fans over.
There was an announcement that Fallout 5 is now in pre-production of its development stages on another major update to the Creation Engine, this one being Creation Engine 3. On top of that, Obsidian Entertainment is being brought on to helm this next mainline Fallout game. With a new game on the horizon now (whenever that horizon shows up anyways), we got official confirmation that remastered versions of both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas have been in development for some time. While there won’t be a big Fallout Day broadcast this year, they’re happy to say that a special 30th anniversary Fallout Day event will be held in Washing, D.C. next year.
While there really isn’t a timeline for any of these announcements, and they could be very well followed up by layoffs knowing the state of the games industry right now, this is still great to see some clarity from Bethesda. Fans have been clamoring for any information on TESVI and basically anything tangentially related to Fallout for years now. Will the Fallout remasters shadow drop like Oblivion? Will we get a date for the next Elder Scrolls? Who knows, but at least we’ve got a little more of a clue than before what Todd Howard and company at Bethesda have been cooking up in the background.
