Let it Die enters its offline phase as Let it Die: Inferno changes up its formula as it enters its fourth season

Over 1000 hours, over 500 Death Metals purchased and left unspent (and now they are gone), the original Let it Die has…well died, kinda. The online rogue-like which was originally developed by Grasshopper Manufacture before the team was spun off into Supertrick Games has turned off its servers and offered the formerly always online free to play title an disconnected future.

As of September 1st players who wish to continue their climb up the Tower of Barbs will need to make a one time purchase to access the game’s offline mode. The paid currency (Death Metals) have been removed and in its place the economy has been reshuffled to accept the earnable in-game currency of “kill coins” on any transactions. Players of the online version of the game have until November 30th to purchase the “Offline Patch” DLC ($19.99) if they wish to retrieve their save data for use in the offline version.

While I am glad the game will live to see play for the foreseeable future, I wish there was some compensation for those who had Death Metals (However I understand the myriad of issues involved…as free Death Metals was dispensed in a somewhat regular cadence). None the less I will definitely make the climb periodically even as I feel I’ve completed all I needed to do in-game.

Supertrick Games’ current focus Let It Die: Inferno is set to kick off its fourth season where the game will see a drastic change in its formula. Originally a PvEvP, the game will be switching to a PvE roguelite experience. The new season will also bring two new weapons, plenty of new enemies and over 21 new maps to randomly come across.

I certainly enjoyed my time with LiD: Inferno when it had its Betas, although I have yet to give it some time before this format switchover. Perhaps now that this change has taken place I finally should take the journey down into Hell’s Gate.

Let it Die’s Offline Patch DLC is available now on PC, PlayStation 4. Let it Die: Inferno is available on PC and PlayStation 5, the game’s Season 4 content is set to launch on September 8th 2026.

Now if only there was a way to play Deathverse: Let it Die again…
