Lumines Remastered returns to mobile…but it’s not on a Sony platform

Lumines: Puzzle Fusion was a launch title on Sony’s PlayStation Portal when it came out in 2005 (2004 in Japan) and was the start of a franchise which eventually left the Sony portable and spread to over 12 platforms. In 2018 when the series creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi formed his current company Enhance Games opted to revisit the original title while handing over development duties to Resonair and players were reintroduced to the franchise via Lumines Remastered.

8 years later the title is seeing light once again as Enhance has teamed with publisher Sound Games to port the title onto iOS and Android. The title will be available as a free to download app, offering a snippet of the full games offerings and can be upgraded to the full experience with a one time payment of $9.99 ($7.99 during the launch period).

The announcement of this port also saw Tetsuya Mizuguchi offer the following quote.

“Bringing a high-energy, music-focused puzzle game like LUMINES to mobile phones is such a natural evolution,” says Tetsuya Mizuguchi, Founder and CEO of Enhance. “When I first envisioned the game, it was meant to be played on the go, something you can pull out of your pocket anytime you want or need an escape. Now, the technology and touch interface make it possible to reproduce it faithfully on your most personal devices. My hope is that this will please longtime LUMINES fans and make some new ones.”

In addition to this release on mobile, the game’s original score is also being made available on streaming and digital marketplaces. This 39 track soundtrack features the work of Takayuki Nakamura and Katsumi Yokota spans multiple genres. Details on where you can find the soundtrack can be found on the following link.

Lumines Remastered is now available on iOS and Android as well as PC and consoles.
