PLAION and Atari announce Atari 2600+ console

Atari and publisher PLAION are teaming up to release a new retro console based on the Atari 2600 named appropriately/obviously the Atari 2600+.

PLAION is doing the heavy lifting it seems and is already preparing for a November 17th, 2023 release at select retailers. The authentic woodgrain-styled, fully functional console will retail for $129.99 and will be packed with a cartridge that includes 10 classic games: Adventure, Combat, Dodge ‘Em, Haunted House, Maze Craze, Missile Command, Realsports Volleyball, Surround, Video Pinball, and Yars’ Revenge and a single original-style CX40+ Joystick Controller (with additional being made available to purchase).  As for additional game options at launch, Berzerk Enhanced Edition and Mr. Run and Jump will also be available for the Atari 2600+ for $29.99.

Those who recall games that need the twisty paddle controller there will also be CX-30 Paddle Controller bundle which will be packed in with a 4-in-1 multi-game cartridge for $39.99.

As for modern niceties the Atari 2600+ will feature HDMI output, USB power and support for multiple screen resolutions.

The Atari 2600+ will launch worldwide on Nov. 17, 2023, and is now available for pre-order at select retailers.
