Ubisoft and Netflix teaming up for live action Assassin’s Creed series

This… actually makes a lot of sense to us. Netflix’s historical-based action adventure TV series are quite popular, and Ubisoft has a franchise that could easily be mined for seasons worth of content. So it sounds like quite a solid match if you ask us.

Either way, the live-action series is super early at this point and is on the lookout for a showrunner, so it’ll be a couple years before we see much of anything we’re assuming.  The agreement also covers other content as well, including potential animated/anime series.

Read on for the announcement from Ubisoft and Netflix below.

Netflix today announced it has entered into an agreement with Ubisoft to develop content based on the international best-selling video game franchise Assassin?s Creed. The first series in development is slated to be an epic, genre-bending live action adaptation; a search is currently underway for a showrunner. Ubisoft Film & Television?s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik will serve as Executive Producers.

Under the agreement, Netflix and Ubisoft will tap into the iconic video game?s trove of dynamic stories with global mass appeal for adaptations of live action, animated, and anime series.

Netflix quote:
