Having grown up with the C64 as a videogame system and occasionally computer, the platform certainly brings back memories. So we’re pretty excited to see the hardware officially get a North American launch thanks to Retro Games and Solutions 2 GO.
So what is The C64 Mini? Well, it’s a 50% replica of the real thing (with non working keyboard) with an HDMI 720p video output, 64 pre-installed games (now with the ability to save!), a retro style controller and USB ports to allow players to plug in additional controllers, an actual keyboard, and/or USB stick to expand and update the software and games. The HD output even includes retro-style filters to achieve that CRT look if required.
The C64 Mini is headed to retail on October 9th, 2018 and pre-orders should be opening up soon. There’s no price point as of yet.
