Pokk?n DX Tournament for Switch, Pok?mon Ultra Sun/Moon for 3DS revealed

Depending on what you expectations were going into this Pok?mon focused Nintendo Direct, you may be super excited or somewhat let down if you’re a Pok?mon fan or Switch owner. The big announcement was… Pokk?n DX Tournament, an enhanced fighting game followup of sorts to the Wii U’s Pokk?n Tournament.

Also announced during the presentation was Pok?mon Ultra Sun and Pok?mon Ultra Moon for the Nintendo 3DS, which are expanded versions of Sun and Moon, which will launch on November 17th, 2017.

Pokk?n DX Tournament for the Nintendo Switch is scheduled for a September 22nd, 2017 release and it’ll be present at the E3 this year, and even have an Invitational tournament of its own.

During today?s Pok?mon Direct presentation, Tsunekazu Ishihara, president and CEO of The Pok?mon Company, and Junichi Masuda, Director of GAME FREAK, announced upcoming Pok?mon titles for Nintendo consoles.

Pok?mon is making its way to Nintendo Switch later this year with Pokk?n Tournament DX. Along with all the content from both the Wii U and arcade versions of Pokk?n Tournament, the Pok?mon fighting game where Pok?mon in battle move in direct response to the player?s actions, Pokk?n Tournament DX also introduces an array of exciting new features to create the ultimate Pokk?n experience. Pokk?n Tournament DX features include:

  • Play Pokk?n anytime, anywhere on Nintendo Switch ? Play Pokk?n Tournament DX in TV mode, handheld mode, or share a Joy-Con controller with another Trainer to battle one-on-one in tabletop mode anywhere!
  • A brand-new fighter ? Decidueye enters the battle, alongside all previous Pok?mon from the Wii U and arcade versions.
  • New Support Pok?mon ? Litten and Popplio make their debut to lend their support in battle.
  • Team Battle mode ? Pick three Pok?mon and battle it out to be the first to defeat all your opponent?s Pok?mon to win in the new Team Battle mode.
  • Group Match mode ? Find similar skilled players in battle rooms for intense and fun battles online.
  • Daily Challenges ? Complete a variety of different daily challenges.
  • Watch battle replays ? Hone your skills by watching other players? replays and share your best matches online with the new replay feature.
  • Jump straight into battle – All characters and Support Pok?mon will be available right from the start of the game.

Pokk?n Tournament DX will launch on Nintendo Switch September 22, 2017.

During Pok?mon Direct, viewers also saw the first footage from the newest titles in the Pok?mon series, Pok?mon Ultra Sun and Pok?mon Ultra Moon. Two new Pok?mon forms were shown resembling that of the Legendary Pok?mon Solgaleo and Lunala. Pok?mon Ultra Sun and Pok?mon Ultra Moon have been powered up with new additions to the story and features from Pok?mon Sun and Pok?mon Moon. Pok?mon Ultra Sun and Pok?mon Ultra Moon are scheduled to release worldwide on November 17, 2017?more information about the games will be revealed later this year.

Also announced, the second titles in the Pok?mon series, Pok?mon Gold and Pok?mon Silver, will be making their way to the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. Pok?mon Gold and Pok?mon Silver were released in Japan on November 21, 1999, as the second set of titles in the Pok?mon series. These games, which debuted as Game Boy Color-titles in Japan, are being recreated into Virtual Console versions such that their screens appear just as they did on the Game Boy Color. Both titles will be compatible with the wireless communication features of the Nintendo 3DS and Trainers can look forward to Link Trades and Link Battles between Virtual Console versions of Pok?mon Gold and Pok?mon Silver. In addition, these titles will be compatible with the Time Capsule function, which allows players to Link Trade Pok?mon between the Virtual Console versions of Pok?mon Gold or Pok?mon Silver and the Virtual Console versions of Pok?mon Red, Pok?mon Blue, or Pok?mon Yellow in Pok?mon Centers within the games. Both titles will be compatible with Pok?mon Bank and will also launch on September 22, 2017.
