NieR: Automata shipments + digital sales top one million

What a neat coincidence. On the day we finally publish our long-awaited review of NieR: Automata (which we scored a solid “A“), Square Enix announced that NieR: Automata has shipped/sold over 1 million units via retail and digitally, across the PS4 and PC, worldwide. Not bad for what seemed kinda like a very original, but still niche action title.

See the press release below.

SQUARE ENIX announced that the worldwide shipment and digital sales of the critically acclaimed action-RPG, NieR: Automata have exceeded one million.

Upon its release for the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system and PC last month, the game received critical acclaim across the world for its fantastic blend of action-packed high-speed 60 fps battles, and deep, captivating storyline from Director YOKO TARO (NIER, Drakengard series).

Developed in collaboration with PlatinumGames Inc., NieR: Automata delivers the perfect mix of action and RPG gameplay. Players will battle as androids 2B, 9S and A2 as they fight to reclaim the world for their human creators and uncover truths long forgotten.

NieR: Automata’s launch trailer is available on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/8XInv0ZJ9n4.

Players can download a free demo for the PlayStation 4 system from the PlayStation Store at: http://bit.ly/NieRDemo.
