PlayStation Vue expanding to Roku, Android devices starting today

Sony’s popular PlayStation Vue internet TV service is expanding onto new devices beginning today.

Several Roku-enabled devices including Roku Streaming Stick, Roku Streaming players and Roku TV will gain access to the service beginning today, with Android phones/tablets going live next week.  The new selection of compatible PS Vue devices joins the PS4, PS3, iPad and Amazon Fire TV.

Hop on over to the official site for all the details.

Starting today, PlayStation Vue becomes accessible to even more users as the internet-based live TV service expands to Roku devices, one of the most popular streaming media players in the U.S. Additionally, the PlayStation Vue mobile app is coming to Android smartphone and tablets next week.

PlayStation Vue’s expansion to the Roku platform provides access to a broader consumer audience, as users can access the service without a PlayStation system. PlayStation Vue will be available on Roku Streaming Stick, Roku Streaming players and Roku TV.

Roku joins a growing list of devices that support PlayStation Vue, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. Users with an existing PlayStation Vue subscription can also access the service on iPad and iPhone through the PlayStation Vue mobile app, with support for Android coming soon. Google Chromecast is also supported via compatible devices with the PlayStation Vue mobile app. With a single PlayStation Vue subscription, users can simultaneously stream content across different devices.

PlayStation Vue is the first internet-based pay-TV service available nationwide that offers more than 100 top live sports, movie, and TV channels, with unique features like simultaneous streaming and an unmatched cloud DVR. With its unique cloud DVR, PlayStation Vue allows users to record hundreds of shows at once, with thousands of hours of storage, offering 10 times more storage than any DVR in the market today.

With an internet connection and a PlayStation Vue supported device, there are no additional fees, such as monthly set-top box fees, or long-term contracts for PlayStation Vue. Consumers can choose from one of three multi-channel plans starting at $29.99 per month. All plans include a seven-day free trial for first time subscribers.

  • Access: 55+ channels, including live cable TV, movies and sports channels for $29.99 per month ($39.99 in cities with major live local broadcast stations*).
  • Core: 70+ channels, including all the channels from Access with the addition of live national and regional sports networks for $34.99 per month ($44.99 in cities with major live local broadcast stations*).
  • Elite: 100+ channels, featuring all the channels from Core with the addition of top movie and entertainment channels for $44.99 per month ($54.99 in cities with major live local broadcast stations*).

Current network programmers include AMC Networks, CBS, Discovery Communications, Disney/ABC Television Group, ESPN, Fox, NBCUniversal, Scripps Networks Interactive, Turner Broadcasting and Viacom. Standalone network channels, including SHOWTIME and Fox Soccer Plus, are also available to users as a la carte offerings.
