Nikkei report states Nintendo stopping Wii U production in 2016

According to a series of tweets by @serkantoto this afternoon, a recent Nikkei report has indicated that Nintendo will cease production of Wii U hardware within 2016:

Unsurprisingly, he reports that some accessories have already been out of production. Confirmation of the NX being revealed within 2016 is also reported, which some have speculated could be as early as April 27 — based on @serkantoto’s mention last week.

With the NX on the horizon, the only question is when Nintendo will show their cards. With a window between late April and E3 in mid-June, the inevitable is — if anything — soon.
