Super Mario Maker launches on Wii U September 11th

During the Nintendo Digital Event this morning, Nintendo finally gave us a firm release date for the fantastic looking, newly renamed, Super Mario Maker. Launching on retail shelves and Nintendo eShop on September 11th, this level customizing Mario adventure will be on the top of every Nintendo fans wish-list this year. If the gameplay during the Nintendo World Championships didn’t sell you on it, then maybe the new trailer embedded below will.

Seriously, how incredible does this game look?

Nintendo also stated that the online sharing component will have a ranking system in place, with various filters to help sort the good from bad. There will also be Nintendo created levels, including the stages seen during the NWC.

Another neat reveal was the inclusion of additional characters, like Link, that can be played and unlocked by completing various challenges.

Check out that trailer below, along with a host of new screens.
