Square Enix announces Project SETSUNA

Another surprise announcement out of Square Enix today was news that they had formed a new studio dubbed Tokyo RPG Factory, who will be developing a brand new RPG for Square Enix currently titled Project SETSUNA.

That’s right, a brand new RPG series. Not a Final Fantasy spin-off. Not a Kingdom Hearts spin-off.

Brand. New.

That’s gotta be good news right?

Obviously it’s a bit early to have much more info on this, but feel free to peruse the press release below.

Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. (?Square Enix?) today announced ?Project SETSUNA,? an all-new console RPG project, developed by Tokyo RPG Factory Co., Ltd., a newly established studio specializing in Japanese RPGs.

?RPGs are a major part of the Square Enix legacy, including FINAL FANTASY?, DRAGON QUEST? and KINGDOM HEARTS,? said Yosuke Matsuda, President and Representative Director of Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. ?RPG fans from all over the world have supported us along the years. To keep creating incredible new RPG titles, we started Project SETSUNA and it is developed by Tokyo RPG Factory, a newly established studio for the project.?

?Project SETSUNA? is a completely new RPG series, and aiming for a global release for consoles in 2016

Further details on Project SETSUNA will be unveiled later this year.
