iHeartRadio app now available for Xbox One

If you’re an Xbox One owner who enjoys listening to live radio or custom stations from your console, starting today you have another option to do so.

The snappable iHeartRadio app features Kinect voice and gesture integration and is free to download and use since it’s ad supported (Eds note: iHeartRadio custom stations are actually ad free, with no pre-roll or banner ads).

Read on for the details.

iHeartRadio, iHeartMedia’s all-in-one streaming radio and digital music service, today announced its availability on Xbox One. Listeners can download the customized app for free beginning today from the Xbox Store to enjoy all their favorite iHeartRadio features right from their Xbox One.

The iHeartRadio integration will allow gamers to utilize voice commands to navigate and control the listening experience without a controller by speaking to Kinect and specifying an action. Kinect?s gesture recognition technology will also allow users to control iHeartRadio through simple hand movements including pushing motions to make selections or pulling motions to scroll through items. Plus, iHeartRadio will integrate seamlessly into Xbox One’s Snap view. This will allow users to “Snap” iHeartRadio to one side of the screen, allowing them to continue listening and controlling the app even while another app or game is running in the center of the screen.

?Xbox One offers the best in gaming and entertainment, and bringing iHeartRadio to Xbox One gives gamers another great way to enjoy their favorite music,? said Mike Nichols, Corporate Vice President, Marketing for Xbox. ?We?re excited to bring iHeartRadio?s excellent user experience and music stations to our fans on Xbox One.?

“Xbox is one of the most popular gaming consoles on the market and we are proud to offer these gamers seamless access to the iHeartRadio listening experience with our new native Xbox One integration,” said Darren Davis, President of iHeartRadio. “This beautifully designed app takes us one step further in our mission be everywhere our listeners are with the products and services they expect.”

The new Xbox One iHeartRadio app includes instant access to thousands of Live Radio stations from across the country, Custom Stations created from a library of more than 20 million songs and 800,000 artists, on-demand podcasts, as well as stations specifically recommended ?For You.? Plus, users can quickly view a station?s details section for song lyrics, artist biographies and to play similar music.

Xbox One is the latest in iHeartRadio’s line of in-home integrations, which includes Xbox 360, Android TV, Roku, Sonos, Amazon Echo and more.
