Shown at GDC this week and featured in ID@Xbox, the game was recently awarded the GDC Game Connection America 2015 development award for “Excellence in Story & Storytelling.” The trailer above seems to highlight the achievement with a narrative tone for the episodic game, currently slated for a release in Spring 2015.

Attendees will have an opportunity to play the game this week at GDC 2015.

Details from the developer’s website below:

Blues And Bullets
episodic noir story

Blues And Bullets is an episodic noir story where you will need to survive thrilling shootouts, dark investigations, difficult decisions to make and unexpected story twists in the skin of a former detective who struggles with his own demons trapped in a decadent city. The first episode will be released on may 2015.

A FORMER DETECTIVE
trapped in a decadent city

Santa Esperanza is a dark, rotten city. Corruption is everywhere. It?s difficult to be honest and abide by the law, defend the weak or get away from the pit of perdition the city is becoming.

While you advance through the story, you will trigger confrontations against powerful enemies and gangsters, fighting and shooting your way out of dangerous situations. Also, you will talk with companions, crime witnesses and key characters where you can choose what the detective will do.

AN IMMERSIVE GAME
In a black and white style

With a stylish black and white style, colours specially placed will highlight and enhance details like the red lips of a femme fatale during a cinematic or the blood from wounded enemies during a shootout.

The game shows an incredibly immersive city, full of details and different locations where the plot will take place.

Everything you do, how and when you do it will make the game react, changing how the story evolves from one episode to another. You will really feel like the story is being written by your own actions and choices.
